• Eligibility – Regional qualifying is open to male amateurs, (no age restrictions) who are members of a Greater Toronto Area Golf Association member club and with an official/authorized handicap factor of 8.5 or less. The final field will be comprised of the first 340 entries received. A complete list of GTAGA member clubs can be found at www.gtaga.com. •Entry Closing Date – 5:00 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2009. For online entries, the fee of $150.00 (includes GST) , is payable by Visa or Mastercard. If you prefer to pay by cheque or money order, you must download and complete the entry form, and mail or courier it to be received at the GTAGA tournament office by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Please note that your selected site (alternate site) will not be confirmed until completed entry form and fee is received by the Tournament office. •Entry Confirmation –The complete field and starting times for each qualifying site, will be posted on the GTAGA website www.gtaga.com and published in the Toronto Star Sports Section on Saturday May 30, 2008.If the qualifying field is oversubscribed and your entry cannot be accepted, your cheque will be destroyed and will not be returned to you. •Qualifying Sites: Qualifying Format –18-hole stroke play competition with approximately 90 to qualify for the championship. The number that qualify from a particular site will be pro-rated, based on thenumber of entrants at each site, and will be stated in the on-site ‘Notice to Competitors’. NOTE: – Competitors are permitted only one opportunity to qualify. A competitor must select a primary site and two alternate sites. However, if some of the sites are oversubscribed, it will be at the discretion of the GTAGA Championship Committee to assign a competitor a site. Championship Regulations
•No Shows –Players who fail to appear for their assigned starting times without notifying the GTAGA may be ineligible to participate in a regional qualifying event the following year. No shows include any player who fails to turn in a scorecard or who withdraws during play without notifying a tournament official. •Practice Rounds – Confirmed entrants at St. George's G&CC and Mississaugua G&CC may be permitted to make a familiarization tour of the golf course during certain hours. In all instances the Golf Professional at each course must first be contacted in advance. •Dress Code – All players and caddies must be properly attired
both on and off the golf course. Golf shorts of a conservative
style are permitted. Rugger pants, jeans, short shorts, cut-offs,
T-shirts and tank tops are prohibited. •Transportation –Players shall walk at all times during a stipulated round. In exceptional circumstances and at the sole discretion of the Rules Committee, a player with a serious permanent medical disability, may request an open cart. A current letter from a medical practitioner describing the permanent disability and explaining the players requested needs, must be submittedwith the entry form. •Code of Conduct –Conduct considered detrimental to the best interests of the game, or unbecoming of a competitor, either on or off the course, and coming to the attention of the Committee, will be strictly dealt with and may result in disqualification of the offending person(s). •Communication Equipment – Use of a cellular phone, pager or any other electronic communication device by a competitor and/or his caddie while on the golf course is strictly prohibited. •Caddies –Caddies are encouraged for all GTAGA events and must wear soft-soled shoes. •Rules of Golf –Play will be governed by the RCGA Rules of Golf, as supplemented by the GTAGA Rules Committee. Conditions of the Competition and Local Rules are on the GTAGA website and it is strongly recommended that they be reviewed. Copies will also be available in the starting tent. •Liability – The applicant is aware of and assumes all risks of bodily injury including specifically (but not exclusively) the risk of injury by thrown or struck golf clubs or golf balls, actions by spectators, competitors, caddies or others in attendance and all weather related incidents. The competitor agrees that the Greater Toronto Area Golf Association, including its directors, officers and employees as well as the competitors in the competition, are not liable for any injuries or property damage resulting from such cause or any other negligence.
